FLEUR DARKING (PRESENCE PROJECTS)

JAN 09 \ we are nature, we are culture, we are parts without a whole

Exploring resistance and surrender to gravity, our weight on the earth and each other, we will play with the liveness of performance.  Dancing to seek specificity… deepening detail, multiplying pattern and creating style by refusing the habitual and unnecessary.

Through intimacy, breathwork and rhythm, we will work alone and with each other.  We can be changed by sensitivity to what’s outside of us connecting to the internal.  We will find our practice in opening to unconscious knowledges… music plays its part as motor, as assistance, as spell.

Through scored and playful explorations we will work with liveness and specificity, using practical tools and our own imaginative agency. We will generate from inside out and allow outside in, as we relate to others, as well as light, time and text.

We will be on the hunt for what is present, what already exists, what is ignored or forgotten, our own smallness.  What we think might not be anything special might in fact be funny. We will follow our own directions in collaboration with other presences. We will work with live decisions. We may become a forest.

Together, we’ll bring awareness to the body and what it holds, especially in relationship with others.

You’ll be introduced to tools and philosophies that support embodied attention and learning from the body’s perspective — practices that guide my own creative practice.
